Pamela Paul, a columnist at the New York Times, is about to be let go. If you don't know who she is, she was one of the few liberals who challenged gender ideology in the mainstream media. Her article entitled ‘The Far Right and Far Left Agree on One Thing: Women Don't Count,’ from 7/3/2022 was one of the first mainstream American columns I read that was critical of what was happening to women's rights in lieu of ‘trans rights.’

Paul was one of the only heterodox writers at NYT, a far-left leaning publication. Some of her other columns about gender ideology and extremism include:

• ‘As Kids, They Thought They Were Trans. Now They No Longer Do.’ (2/2/2024)

• ‘Why Is the US Still Pretending We Know Gender-Affirming Care Works?’ (7/12/2024)

• ‘On Transgender Issues, Voters Want Common Sense’ (11/14/2024).

All of these articles are paywalled for non-subscribers.

She also wrote columns about the Hamas-Israel war, the rise of antisemitism, and the influence of religion in US politics. She also criticized far-left authors.

Personally, I knew that NYT would fire Paul eventually. The newspaper is far too woke to tolerate any significant criticism of its own positions for very long. Like any employer, NYT will not comment on personnel issues, but in the article linked above, the key quote is

‘I’m told, however, that Opinion’s decision to part ways with her is not because of her ideological positions. Kingsbury said, “We don’t discuss personnel matters, but any insinuation I make staffing or editorial decisions based solely on political viewpoints is false.”’

Gee, why don’t I believe that?

And why would I think that trantifa has some influence at NYT..?

And note the ‘solely on political viewpoints’ language. So if not ‘solely,’ how about partially?

NYT and many other legacy media continue to disappoint, disgust, and infuriate those of us who accept the reality of biological sex. In my opinion, NYT has not been worth reading for many years. I cancelled my own subscription nearly a decade ago.
