This isn't an article, but it's an excerpt of an email I received from John Fetterman on Thursday. It's obviously the standard email his staff sends out to people advocating for (or against) sex-based rights. In my case, it was in response to my request that he support S.9, though the email from Fetterman arrived a couple of weeks after I wrote.
My own belief is that there is no hope for the Democratic Party on this issue, particularly on a national level, but I keep writing because it is easy to do and because there is always a chance I am wrong. I am very familiar with the issue of gender identity ideology, and did not imply that I think there is such a thing as an "LGTBQ+" [sic] person, but the below is typical of what I get from all Democrats. Note that Fetterman, himself, makes clear that the only way to move forward in the battle for sanity is to vote him out of office.
Here's the email excerpt:
"In the 118th Congress, I was proud to cosponsor the Equality Act and will sign on again when it is reintroduced. This bill prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Everyone deserves equal protection under the law, and I will not stop fighting until that happens. The disgusting bigotry and hatred that we have seen toward LGTBQ+ people across the country will not win, and as long as I’m your senator, I’ll be fighting like hell to make sure of it."
