Finally, some details about Governor Shapiro in a multistate "GAC" lawsuit
But of course it's pro-"GAC." No dissent permitted
Here’s a quick post about Governor Shapiro’s joining a lawsuit against the Trump administration for banning “GAC” for minors. PA4SBR covered this lawsuit here.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published a story on August 22, 2025, about a trans-identifying male adolescent meeting with our governor about his inability to receive “GAC” at UPMC. Readers who don’t subscribe to P-G should be able to read the entire article here if you disable any adblockers.
The author of the article is Hanna Webster, P-G’s regular reporter covering the alphabet-soup community. She never writes objective articles. She’s always pro-trans and anti-women. P-G rarely allows comments on its pro-trans articles; this one is no exception. The newspaper claims “transphobia” if they allowed comments. What they really mean is the widespread objection to and disagreement with gender ideology.
This article is the first time (to the best of my searching skills) the P-G has published Governor Shapiro’s involvement in this lawsuit.
Ms Webster describes the plight of a local trans-identifying 18-year-old male calling himself “Sea Sombar.” He participated in a roundtable for trans-identifying minors that Governor Shapiro hosted at his governor’s residence in Harrisburg on July 14, 2025:
Gov. Josh Shapiro’s participation in a new lawsuit, filed by 16 states and the District of Columbia, that seeks to block Trump administration moves to stop certain medical practices, represents some of the first public signaling of his position on gender care this year.
Behind closed doors, constituents say he’s been more vocal.
Participants in a July 14 roundtable at the governor’s Harrisburg home confirmed that Mr. Shapiro organized the event to hear directly from Pennsylvania transgender youth and be able to converse with fellow legislators about the impact of state residents losing access to gender affirming care.
Note her euphemism “certain medical practices.” Which practices would these be, Ms Webster?
She continues:
The roundtable discussion started around noon, [Mr Sombar] said. Mr. Shapiro listened to hours of testimony from around a dozen teens about the mental and physical consequences of losing access to their care. “There was a quality to him that was very honest, which I liked, and trying to get the truth from all these people,” [Mr Sombar] said.
Through a spokesperson, Mr. Shapiro declined to comment on the roundtable or answer questions regarding how many teens were present or what was discussed. Emphasis added.
Gee, I wonder why our governor declined to comment. Could it be that he knows a large majority of Americans, including Democrats, oppose “GAC” and gender ideology?
Ms Webster continues:
It took many people for the governor’s office to connect with Judy Sombar, Sea’s mom. She heard from a friend on Facebook, about two weeks before the roundtable. The friend messaged that TransYOUniting founder [and TIM] Dena Stanley wanted to speak with her [the mom or son?]. [Mr] Stanley connected [Mr] Sombar with Ashleigh Strange, executive director of the governor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs, who requested Sea’s attendance at the roundtable.
Mr Sombar stated that “12-15 kids” participated in the governor’s roundtable.
I wonder why Governor Shapiro didn’t publicize his roundtable until a month after he hosted it. Why are gender ideology actions always on the down low? What is he hiding? Does he know that “GAC” and gender ideology are losing issues for his party?
Ms Webster writes:
Mr. Shapiro, in a statement to the Post-Gazette last week, called the administration’s efforts to block gender care “baseless” and opposed its pursuits of criminal prosecutions against health care providers in the commonwealth.
“The freedom to make health care decisions should be between parents, their children and their doctor, and I will not stand by while the federal government tries to infringe on the rights and freedoms of Pennsylvania families,” he said.
Oh. My. God. Pennsylvania’s feminists and sex-realists have a HUGE fight on our hands with Governor Shapiro. Plus he’s rumored to be a potential 2028 presidential candidate.

PA4SBR will continue to update readers on Governor Shapiro and this lawsuit.
Note: On August 21, 2025, the Philadelphia Inquirer posted this paywalled article about CHOP’s fight against the Trump administration’s “GAC” policies. After searching this site, I found no information about the lawsuit or roundtable.
After this disappointing news, I need some humor.
😂gotta luv the alpaca!
I hope that joining this lawsuit is political suicide for Shapiro. Was he really trying to hide his meeting with these confused PA youth? Why doesn't he hold a meeting with PA detransitioners?
