Thank you to MA 4 Women for their original post! PA4SBR has slightly modified it below.
To My Democratic Legislators:
As you may know, August 26 is Women’s Equality Day. It commemorates women’s long fight for our right to vote and the certification of the Nineteenth Amendment to our US Constitution.
Today women are involved in another fight — the fight for our sex-based rights. Our rights have been threatened, compromised, and sometimes outright erased by the prioritization of the myth of “gender identity” over the reality of biological sex in local, state, and national law and policy.
Not only is it heartbreaking to know that 105 years since the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment women must again renew our fight for equal treatment under the law, but also that this is primarily the fault of Democratic legislators who have thoughtlessly surrendered women’s rights to a virulent male special interest group which seeks to secure privileges for itself at the expense of women and girls.
For over a century, our foremothers fought for our rights. Instead of progressing, women and girls have been regressing. Today, our courageous and determined foremothers would be appalled not only at our loss of rights, but also the speed of our losses.
Today, women and girls no longer have our rights to female-only facilities, including sex-segregated domestic violence and homeless shelters, prisons, domestic violence and rape services, sports teams, locker rooms, and restrooms. We have lost our rights to privacy, dignity, and safety. Women and girls no longer have opportunities and honors previously reserved exclusively for our sex, nor are we able to use language which names our unique experience and biology. Most importantly, women and girls are no longer able to advocate for our equality as a legally protected sex class without fear of censorship, cancellation, ad hominem attacks, harassment, bullying, and physical violence.
Women will no longer allow any legislators, regardless of political party, to erase both our sex and our rights.
I strongly encourage you to read The Abolition of Sex: How the 'Transgender' Agenda Harms Women and Girls by Kara Dansky (a liband Democrat) and join Democrats For An Informed Approach To Gender.
As a constituent and voter, I ask you to reflect on how you have been culpable in this sorry state of affairs, how this has weakened the electability of the Democratic party, and to reverse course by standing strongly and proudly alongside your predecessors who fought for the rights of women and girls over a hundred years ago.
Optimistically,
Your Constituent
PA4SBR encourages readers to write to your legislators this week in honor of Women’s Equality Day. Tell them to stand up for the sex-based rights of women and girls. Tell them your political party, if you’re a feminist, lesbian, parent(s) of a transed child, etc. Please feel free to share what you have written in the comments, and let us know your legislators’ reply, if any.
