I can't imagine a more effective way to prevent discussion of male violence than a school district and mainstream media conspiring to insist that a violent boy be referred to as a girl. I'm still shaking over seeing the brave girl who testified about this matter having to make an effort to shed the inaccurate pronouns she was forced to use at school.
I know. These poor kids know it isn't right yet they are being forced to lie. There is a PA bill that states neither students, parents, or teachers should have to use wrong sex pronouns or names or be reprimanded if they refuse to. I wonder if it will ever make it out of committee.
The school is going to hold a forum. I hope everyone is able to ask questions.
I could spend the rest of my life trying to figure out how we got here. Imagine thinking that someone *should* face civil liability for using accurate pronouns about another person.
According to a press release issued by the bills’ sponsors, the package of bills addresses concerns surrounding compelled speech and ensures that individuals retain the right to express their First Amendment right to free speech without facing civil penalties.
The state representatives who authored the legislation are Reps. Robert Leadbeter (R-Columbia), Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) and Joe D’Orsie (R-Manchester).
A bill introduced by D’Orsie [HB 2155] would prohibit school districts across the commonwealth from disciplining any teacher who refuses to use a child’s preferred pronouns, if the teacher acts with an “absence of malice.” It’s been referred to the Education Committee.
A bill introduced by Leadbeter [HB 2156] would grant civil immunity (no damages in civil court) to any parent who refuses to use pronouns that match their child’s gender identity or refuses to consent to gender-affirmation care for their child. It’s been referred to the Judiciary Committee.
Another bill introduced by Leadbeter [HB 2157] would prevent a judge hearing a child-custody dispute from considering a parent’s refusal to use pronouns that match their child’s gender identity or the parent’s refusal to consent to gender-affirmation care for their child. It’s been referred to the Judiciary Committee.
A bill introduced by Kauffman [HB-2158] would grant civil immunity (no damages in civil court) to any individual who refuses to use another person’s preferred pronouns. It’s been referred to the Judiciary Committee.
I'm still trying to figure it out. I think the starting point was when doctors (and others, but I the most remarkable group is doctors) accepted and promoted the idea that there is such a thing as a "transgender" person. Once it is accepted that this is a real type of person, it's easy to get people on board with creating accommodations. It's a scary thing for MSNBC-watching normies to admit that all of mainstream medicine (and education, the media, government, etc.) has become so corrupt. If they admit that boys can't be girls, then they have to reject everything from the American Association of Pediatrics to the WHO. It's even scary for me. I would like for there to be some major institutions I can still trust.
Medical Schools, respectable ones, were flooded with grant money to hire professors and doctors to promote the idea. This started decades ago. Every profession is susceptible to corruption - look at lobotomies and the opioid crisis - but I think this came from the unspeakable wealth of Silicone Valley and men like Martin Rothblatt. Their power to promote ideas on social media, plus money they flooded into big charities and political campaigns - it was a perfect storm.
My friend is a female doctor and I told her about puberty blockers being promoted as safe and she was gobsmacked. She immediately said that was insanity. She's an orthopedic surgeon in her late 30s. I think that's telling. In academia and in medicine, people are trained to stay in their lane and not contradict the "experts" in other fields. She had no idea this was being promoted because she's busy and doesn't have kids and doesn't spend time on social media. But in this case, she does have expertise because she knows those drugs would cause bone loss.
Wow. Your friend must have finished medical school no earlier than the early 2010s (maybe even more recently), and she is shocked by the claim that puberty blockers are safe? That's heartening, and I'll definitely keep it in mind. My own perspective is very limited, but I will add that I see more gender industry propaganda in schools and libraries than I do in doctors' offices.
I'm sure you're right that it started in Silicon Valley. I just keep thinking that it was when the AAP, the AMA, the WHO, etc., declared that "gender identity" should be "affirmed" that it really became mainstream. I feel strongly that this all would have been stopped, dead in its tracks, if these major organizations had said, "Martin Rothblatt is a nutcase. A person born a boy will never be a woman." That is interesting about the grant money, and now, I'm worried about how the medical profession has been corrupted in ways I wouldn't think to guess. That is, are they even getting kidneys and livers right? The "trans child" thing really does destroy my trust.
I wonder if your friend would pen a guest post? She might not want to use her real name, but I believe what others have done is verify their identity to the journalist/blogger (since she is your friend, this is already taken care of), who then does not reveal it.

I found a bill about civil liability for pronoun use -- is it HB 2158?

Yes I think so. There is a package of four bills that were introduced at the same time. I will try to find them.

Historians will look at this as a time of madness comparable to the 1930s. How did populations go so collectively insane?

It's not a bug, it's a feature. It always was.
