Governor Josh Shapiro deserves a lump of coal this holiday. He wants Pennsylvania’s doctors and clinics to continue recklessly harming minors by suing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the HHS Inspector General. Governor Shapiro is one of 19 governors and attorneys general challenging a declaration issued by Secretary Kennedy based on the HHS review of the evidence for this medical model, which states that “gender-affirming care” (puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries) for minors to masculinize females and feminize males “fails to meet professionally recognized standards of health care.” Secretary Kennedy is right about this, and importantly, the declaration threatens to cut Medicare and Medicaid for the providers and facilities who want to continue the medical abuse of vulnerable young people.
Tell Governor Shapiro that you’d prefer your tax dollars weren’t spent defending medical abuse.
Again, you don’t need to be a Democrat to contact our governor. Pennsylvanians who are not Democrats are Governor Shapiro’s constituents too! Tell him how out of touch he is with the best-available scientific evidence like the Cass Report as well as the recent HHS report. Tell him to stop wasting our tax dollars in this lawsuit. And tell him that you won’t vote for him or any Democrats until they come to their senses.

Update: A federal judge has ruled against the US Department of Justice (DOJ) in seeking medical records of minors undergoing sex-rejecting procedures (a.k.a. “gender affirming care.”) In her ruling, Judge Cathy Bissoon wrote that DOJ’s motive is political, not medical. Here is some news coverage:
