Benjamin Ryan dropped some reporting over at Reality’s Last Stand regarding the Pennsylvania Psychological Association’s (PPA) commitment to eugenics and quackery. His piece is maddening, with the upshot being the PPA telling its members they are not permitted to mention The Cass Review to patients and also singing the praises of WPATH.
Initially, we thought we’d ask you to politely write PPA and ask why they are trying to gag their members and why they support the loonies of WPATH. However, a quick look at the front page of their website tells us that they will likely be resistant to reason.
One of their main missions seems to be to gain prescription privileges for psychologists (who often have limited if any medical training). An organization that advocates for that (and there may be valid reasons mixed in there) is likely going to side with a well-funded organization that is all about giving expensive drug protocols out like candy. For imaginary conditions.
What does the PPA actually do and what can they do that the much larger (and vaguely associated) American Psychological Association (APA) doesn’t do? That’s unclear. But they do sell a great deal of educational material$ and solicit member$hip.
In other words, they are a business pretending to be an advocacy group and that explains a great deal.
Also, this is their mission statement.
“The value of evidence-based and ethical practice” is the phrase that hilariously stands out. At least it would be hilarious if their members weren’t pushing for the mutilation of vulnerable people.
Thanks for putting this organization on our radar. Will have to do more checking into this one.🤔
