The Supreme Court blocked the Biden Administration’s bananas, cultist changes to Title IX and that’s a positive thing for women and girls. However, the media is still framing this incorrectly as a blow to civil rights and that’s highly biased and unethical journalism.
The headline at the SCOTUS Blog reads:
“Supreme Court blocks temporary enforcement of expanded protections for transgender students”
while the headline could read:
“Supreme Court blocks temporary enforcement of the Biden Administration policy switching out gender identity for biological sex in Title IX protections”
The second headline is far less biased and does not imply that the category of “trans” deserves preference over women and girls who need access to single-sex spaces and sports.
We don’t even know if the journalist, Amy Howe, wrote that headline although it is likely that she did given the realities of blogging and journalism.
Ms. Howe has no doubt been fully indoctrinated with the idea that trans is a civil rights movement that overrides the rights of women and girls to single-sex spaces. She probably doesn’t even question it, and if she did that would likely mean the end of her career.
Yet, it’s still worth it to ask her to question her assumptions since she provides her email (howe.amy@gmail.com).
Dear Ms. Howe,
I couldn’t help but notice that the SCOTUS Blog headline of August 16th reading “Supreme Court blocks temporary enforcement of expanded protections for transgender students” is highly biased in favor of men and boys who identify as women and does not take into consideration the feelings of women and girls who wish to have access to single-sex spaces and sports. There are many reasons why women and girls across the political spectrum believe the material reality of biological sex matters. I also recognized a very well-funded and aggressive lobby has been evangelizing to journalists that biological sex does not matter.
As someone who believes biological reality makes women and girls vulnerable, I respectfully suggest a more accurate and less biased headline.
“Supreme Court blocks temporary enforcement of the Biden Administration policy switching out gender identity for biological sex in Title IX protections”
I would not presume to ask you to rewrite the headline in favor of my position as a sex realist, as that is not your job. I simply ask you to remove the bias.
Thank you,
