First, a Pennsylvania action alert from one of our Sisters, CH. I post her email in its entirety:
I am contacting you to bring your attention to PA HB 350. It will soon be on the PA House Floor. Women's Liberation Front has written in opposition to HB 350. PA4SexBasedRights is asking for other groups to do the same. I am including more information here:
HB 350 just passed the House Children and Youth Committee with a vote of 18-7 (roll call not posted yet) -
Opposition to PA HB 350 centers on the potential negative impacts on children's well-being, the perceived commodification of children and surrogacy, and the weakening of safeguards typically associated with establishing legal parentage.
Commodification of Children and Surrogate Mothers: Critics express concerns that the bill facilitates the commodification of children and potentially exploits surrogate mothers by allowing financial transactions for pregnancy and genetic contribution, potentially "legalizing baby-selling" under contractual agreements.
Insufficient Safeguards and Screening: The bill weakens existing safeguards, such as home studies and background checks, that are in place to ensure the safety and suitability of non-biological parents.
The electronic voting board in the House is broken, so they recessed without voting on HB 350. They won't be back in Harrisburg until Monday, June 23. This allows some time to press for more opposition if you feel compelled to write our call your House Rep.
Please write and/or call your PA House Member and OPPOSE HB 350!
Now, two updates on a previous post.
First, Imane Khelif, a man who beat the shit out of women boxers in the 2024 Paris Olympics and stole their gold medal, has withdrawn from a women's tournament after they mandated sex testing for all competitors. Gee, I wonder why — could it be because he knows he’s a man?? Seriously, how could anyone look at this man and think for one second that he is a woman.
Second, Simone Biles apologized to Riley Gaines via Xitter. First, Jennifer Sey’s initial response to Biles is here. I quote verbatim from Sey at XX-XY Athletics in her email dated June 12, 2025:
An update:
Since this all began last week, Simone has apologized to Riley. As little as it may seem, this is progress. A year ago, no one would have felt compelled to apologize to a conservative standing up for women's rights.
PA residents — please call your House member to oppose HB 350!
The back and forth between Simone and Riley, although heated at first, does show us there can be reasonable discussions. Good on these two women for starting the conversation.
Ugh. Of course, my representative is the lead sponsor of HB 350. He hates women so much and always has.
