Well said, Kitteh. Thanks for this very accurate report. I've been writing and encouraging others to contact DNC, Fetterman, et al., about Jason Smith's abhorrent behavior towards us. You hit the nail on the head: Mr. Smith is the poster child for dictatorial, progressive patriarchy and misogyny.
I'm sorry this happened to you, and dismayed that the staff of a US senator would behave so shabbily. I intend to contact Fetterman's office directly and let him know that this is just the kind of thing that affects my vote.
Thank you so much for your courage and for reporting in on this appalling meeting. For those who wish, ROAR members, two of whom attended this meeting, prepared a call to action to write Senator Fetterman. If anyone would like to join in on that, you may find it here: https://roarwomennyc.com/2025/05/23/take-action-senator-fettermans-aide-takes-a-strong-anti-woman-stance/ Also, I wrote my own senator, Schumer, in his capacity as Minority Leader and wrote to 70 liberal friends and neighbors asking them to do so as well. If anyone would like text to get you started for contacting him or your own senators, you will find it here: https://substack.com/@susanscheid/note/c-119661205?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=16541 @JuliaJHing, who attended on behalf of ROAR, has also written about the meeting on her substack. Thanks again to you all for doing this important work.
thank you so much for doing this crucial on the ground work. You have written this so well! It must be disturbing to meet in person a representative of the progressive misogyny. We know it exists, the circumstantial evidence compels that conclusion. But to see it and feel it so closely, while it doesn’t even pretend to care but in fact shows its contempt, AND to be aware of it (you) yet stand in front of it…brave. Bravo. I wonder if others of your group might write it up also, each from their own perspective? What a collection that would be.
That's an excellent idea, Elspeth. ROAR has their perspective at Susan's link in her comment. LGBA has their video, and WoLF and WDI have their perspectives on their websites. Please suggest a collection to Sharon B.
I cannot believe a US Senator could employ such a malevolent, elitist and ignorant little worm. Okay, scratch that, I can. It sounds to me like Jason A. Smith embodies everything wrong with the Democratic Party and why they will continue their self-immolation and watch Democracy die while patting themselves on the back.
I’m sorry I wasn’t there in person, but I did wait for well over an hour for a promised video link which Mr. Smith never connected. Instead, thank you for trying to speakerphone me in. I heard snippets of this whole exchange but mostly just muffled douchebaggery. I hung up when I could no longer hear anything.
It’s now a personal goal of mine to make Mr. Smith famous.
Straight out of Gilead.

Thank you, TrackerNeil.

Awesome!! Maybe we can get their attention!

I will!
Beautifully stated, and I so agree with your suggestion. This meeting should never be forgotten or forgiven.
