Did it! You inspired me to go ahead and write a letter tonight. I ended up writing to the Tribune because they had a more recent article I could use as a jumping-off point.
Thank you! I sent one to the Inquirer under my own name and one with our group email to them and the Post-Gazette. I have found that many people who support gender ideology are shocked to learn that they aren't the ones fighting against authority. I also truly believe it's become religious. I heard of a drag show on a college campus recently and they were passing a collection plate so they could fund child transition.
That is absolutely awful. I'm fairly live-and-let-live and I never made a big deal out of the existence of drag (even though I acknowledge that it can be misogynist) until this latest crop made it clear that their target is children.
I agree that it's become its own religion, and I'm trying to sort out the relationship between gender identity ideology and established religions such as Christianity. I hear of brave people saying that they cannot use inaccurate pronouns because it is against their Christian religion, and yet, I see the Progress Pride flag on all kinds of Christian churches. Mainline Protestants seem to be the worst, and yet, some Catholics also adhere to gender identity ideology. This makes me think I must be wrong about a crazy new religion like this requiring a vacuum, e.g. it caught on because people stopped being religious in the theistic sense.
Anyway, thanks for all you do. I'll definitely try to write letters to the editor more often. I used to do it and then lost the habit. The #1 thing I write about is accurate language, because I think everything else (prisons, kids, sports, etc.) flows from that.
Very thoughtful. I'm not sure why so many mainline protestant churches have embraced GI, but I think they are trying to provide counter programming to the OTHER weird new religion that revolves around Donald Trump. I don't think many pastors trying to retake Christianity from the authoritarian right realize gender is its own religion.
