In this article from The Distance, author Matt Osbourne links to a fabulous YouTube video by comedian and actor Paul Chato that ‘deconstructs’ John Oliver’s misogynist rant. (PA4SBR posted about this rant here.)
“The reason John Oliver had to use a laugh track for this hit piece is that most American voters disagree with him. In fact, most Democratic voters disagree with him. The audience that can genuinely laugh at Payton McNabb being permanently disabled by a grown boy on a volleyball court is actually quite small compared to the general population, and their laughter is not suitable for general audiences.”
Please watch the hilarious video in The Distance article. Chato is a man who gets it.
Here is a quote from the transcript. Emphasis is in the original:
"It is evident to anyone who has seen the absolute sardonic glee of trans [identifying male] winners… none of these [men] look like winning. They look like they hate women.”
Finally someone else says this out loud!
Please watch the video!
In other women’s sports news, according to feminist blogger Sarah Barker, Harvard invited Caster Semenya as keynote speaker at their Women In Power Conference. Barker writes that “Semenya is a male athlete whose achievements are stealing the very top women's awards and opportunities by knowingly and unfairly competing in the female category.”
“Harvard Kennedy School invited Caster Semenya, a male runner whose success has come by competing in the female category, to be a keynote speaker at it’s eighth annual Women In Power Conference. This is a kick in the teeth to every female athlete Semenya has cheated over the years, an affront to the spirit of sports, and appallingly misogynistic. The event is this Saturday, April 12. Below is a letter I drafted asking Harvard organizers of the conference to rescind Semenya’s invitation. You can copy and paste this letter, or write your own, and email to: hkswipconference@gmail.com.”
Please read Barker’s excellent post about Semenya and send a letter of protest to Harvard.
John Oliver is the Joe Rogan of the left, a man so addicted to the approval of his audience he will say anything that makes them happy. Also, there are no women on his staff and DEE provides him intellectual cover for that misogyny.
I think he's in for a bit of a ride because this might break this insulation.
